Mineral Digest - The Journal of Mineralogy -  Three issues of this long-defunct old magazine are available. Min.Dig. has an artsy, funky sixties style, chock full of color photos, trying hard to be highbrow. A mixture of articles on gems and minerals, with some significant contributors, including Sinkankas, Pough, Hurlbut, Desautels, and Pearl and some classic stuff too that isn't seen in any other mineral mag. Good reading, and where else would you see a quartz crystal painted by Salvador Dali?

Birthday Book of Gems, by Harold and Erica Van Pelt, 128 pages, 1986 - This is basically a very fancy hardcover calendar in the shape of a book, (22x15cm) featuring dozens of superb color photos of minerals and lapidary creations by the folks who dominated mineral photography for a couple of decades or so. Very pretty! A bit of scuffing on the corners and edges, but perfect on the interior. $10
